Gourami's Trying To Eat Shrimp

Hello,

Due to an outburst of algae within my tank, I recently purchased six Amano Shrimp to help keep my plants and tank clean. Unfortunately my Chocolate Gouramis see these shrimp as a source of food and keep trying to nibble them. I don't think they could actually eat them as the Shrimps are much larger than the Gourami's mouths. All the Shrimp are now hiding together behind one leaf and seem reluctant to move.

Is this usual behaviour or should I remove the shrimps?

It may be just because they are new and the gouramis are curious. Give it time, i doubt the gouramis will do much harm to the shrimp. In the long term they should be fine, your shrimps will probably be more active in the night when they have the cover of darkness as safety, untill your gouramis start to leave them alone and they gain confidence again.

Try and add a bit more plantation if you haven't got much, they love moss etc
