Genes Do The Funniest Things!

Just fished this little trouble maker out of our growout tank of dragon babies..............a Halfmoon Dragon Plakat We've had so many surprises with this spawn with regards colour and now this little monster who was terrorizing the rest

The good thing is that we were wanting to try to get some nice PKs to breed and now we have our own

He's so pretty I bet he was a great surprise to you! Really pleased you have found one you really wanted

He's actually a lot more red than the photo shows......but he got a bit stressy when we put him in the photocube

Speaking of genes, I hope you mind me asking on here, what would a rosetail and a feathertail produce?

It's not really advisable to put a RT with a FT because it can increase the finnage in the fry and make it difficult for them to swim properly. Same with putting 2 FTs together. The spawns we have are FT x HM and HM x RT which will usually throw out some RTs and FTs.

yes my sisters last spawn was ft and a hm, and got several fts, rts, and the rest hms. I am even a little nervious to breed one of the fts she has to a hm sister, because the genes are already there for so much finnage.


I bet that pk is going to be one hot fish when he grows up.

I know what you mean. Midas our old FT always struggled with his fins.....they were quite thick and heavy, whereas Draco had no problem!!!

This little one is a complete menace and has nipped some of the others fins.....he's now been separated but I think there is another PK in there lol Will definately keep hold of him for breeding.....even better if we can get a good female match for him.

He's going to be gorgeous when he's fully grown I think. I know spawns can throw PKs but it's the first time it's happened to us, and very glad we've got him I took another PK out last night that is very similar so will try to get some pics of him too

I think this dragon spawn has been the most interesting one we've done.......cos they are all so different, it's been really fun seeing them grow.

Shame you don't live nearer......we would have brought a baby or two up to you

Do you know what the grandparents of the dragon spawn were or where they came from?

I don't know their lines unfortunately. Dad was an import and the female I did a swap with Modaz for. At least now though I'll be able to keep track as I continue to spawn this line.

Thing is we travel a fair bit at times so are happy to drop fish off on our way to places if we can. Our next trip in a couple of weeks is up to Hampshire so if anyone is on our route we can deliver
