There are other forms of ammonia that can be used to cycle. DrTim's sells a small bottle of ammonia chloride for cycling. Before modern backing powder ammonia carbonates was used and some still use it today. It should also work for cycling. Ammonia sulfate might also work. Urea dissolved in water and then boiled will beak down into ammonia. All of these forms off ammonia are used by farmers as fertilizers and might be found in hydroponics stores or in the fertilizer section of hardware stores. The other place to look for them is online.

Note I have not actually tied cycling with these yet. I cannot advise on how much to use or how effective it will be. I have however boiled urea dissolved in water in a microwave and did detect ammonia with my test kit. The links below are pure products that should make a lot of smell.

I have used this site to purchase small quantities of fertilizers. I don't know if they ship to the UK

Oh, hi! Any idea where I can get ammonia in a bottle round here? Also, is there somewhere other than P@H that stocks tropical fish?! Thanks.
Dr. Tim's cycling ammonia on ebay is the way to go. It's pure ammonia with no added chemicals, great for cycling.
