MY 29 gallon and 55 gallon both have sand on the bottom, I syphon aprox. 30% each week starting from one end of the tanks to the other end, I take the feller stone out and put into the bucket I'm syphoning water in and move the driftwood and other ornaments around until I've got as much out as possible. After I'm done it looks like I've done a good job however when I put the ornaments, rocks back in more crap comes up, is this normal? I syphon my tanks at least once a week and try my best to get all the crud out but it seems to be more left in after I'm done. Just didn't want to kill my fish for not cleaning well enough, any advise would be greatly appreciated. THANKS.

Use a Coke bottle gravel cleaner. Any 2litre plastic cool drink bottle can be used and the large diameter of the bottle helps to prevent the sand being sucked out while still allowing the gunk to get removed.
