Bad Betta

The best cure for his fins hon is crystal clear water so if you do some frequent water changes his fins will grow back in no time. The white means he is healing and should colour up soon. Just make sure also he has a nice temp set! :p

Yup thats what I have been doing... they are now all full white and back... just waiting for the colour. Water is perfect and temp is steady :)

Hey guys I am back....

A guy in work has just brought me in a 400 x 200 x 200 mm glass fish tank, with a little filtter. I am not sure if this is gonna be 2 big for my house yet, but would this be better for Rufus??

It has a lid and I have a strip light... however the light is really strong. But how would I attach it??

Also u would have to take the whole lid off to feed him!!

Deffinately better for him, you could plant it up nice and he'd have lots of cover from a bright light.

Cool, well when I get home tonight I will have a look at the space situation hehe

I am just worried on how I will fit a light

Also I have called and they will take the tank back.... but I don't wanna give back the free heater

Just do all your basics like add the sand, filter, plants, heater etc, then if you need help with fitting the light or anything come back here and ask for advice, it would help with pics as people can udnerstand where to put things, im happy youve got a better tank :)
I was going to suggest a 21litre i got from pets at home, its similar to the 14ltr that was shown just 7ltrs more lol, i use a heater and its fine on the plastic, i and im sure others would love to have a look at the new tank, goodluck :)

Cool well I will see it I have the space for it :)

I hope I can keep the iccle heater... as they are expensive.

I have a strip light but it is big and what if it falls into the water??

I dont know about strip lights they sound risky,
I just use a normal small marine spot light :)

I have a strip that slots into the lid of one tank and another huge strip that rests ontop of the glass in the other tank, they are fine. I am no expert at installing though, show us pics and we should be able to put it together for you! The tank sounds much better, I have to take lids off when feeding so dont worry! Marina make some good LED spotlights, you may be able to nab one off of Ebay. If the room is very well lit and no real plants then that can do for now, one of my tanks doesnt have a light and gets very well light anyways.

Hi Lotte! You can buy clamp on lights for smaller tanks :D

I am thinking of the Arcadia Arc Pod lights... HERE :D

A larger tank would be good for your betta. The baby biorb is better than an unfiltered small bowl, but I prefer (even with my love of biorbs) to see a betta in a larger tank myself :D

I do love the Biorbs too but unsure what is best to keep in there? Not big enough for coldwater goldfish imagine not big enough? Anyways sorry off topic, will start thread on that elsewhere! All the best on setup LOTTE, let us know if need any help. Always PM me as well!

Reef One and Fluval, for their Edge recommendations, should be shot for suggesting that any size of goldfish is suitable for their tanks IMHO! :X :< Makes my blood boil!

Understocking of the Reef One range is a good idea and stocking only with small slim bodied fish. Regular weekly maintenance is also essential. If you ask me it's best to burn the instructions as they are SO misleading.
