Betta fish started consistently trying to jump out of tank

I have a 5 gallon cycled tank w live plants and a nerite snail. I have a heater and filter and I have had this betta for over 5 months now. This morning I heard the sound of him jumping (i have a lid) so i did a water change but he is still trying to jump out. I dont know whats stressing him since this isnt normal behavior.

It can indicate a neurological problem.
Please post water test results. Please post a photo/ video of the fish and tank.

You did a water change, but if you weren't doing regular ones before that emergency one, the issue could have started there. Your readings now won't tell the story, but a look at your routines might.
Betta splendens, as an air breathing swamp fish can take a lot of abuse that it shouldn't ever have to, but chronically unchanged water will get them. I agree with @Naughts that this sounds neurological. That can have its roots in the kidneys, as it can with humans. The kidneys can be affected by polluted water.
Neuro problems can also develop in pristine water. Some things just happen with no cause we can see.

I've never had a fancy Betta with long fins jump. The drag takes it out of most of them. If it's a targeted jump, they go still and take an S shape for a moment, before springing off the tension of the tail. There's no twitching - it's a sleek hunting move.

i do weekly water changes and the twitching has j recently begun (i saw him do it once or twice months ago) i am j worried since its paired w the jumping!

I can’t see any cause from your photos or information given, although more info would be helpful.
Have you checked the heater/ pump/ lights? I’ve heard of faulty equipment (or incorrectly used -like wet light fixtures) leaking current into the water so that would be good to rule out, for the fish and you.
