Lips jumped

I am so stupid! He jumped a divided 2.5 usg a month or so ago and killed his brother! He looked like Synirr's avitar. A brother or cousin no doubt. And now he jumped the critter keeper he was in!!!!!!

I am so stupid and careless!!!!!!!

Don't be so hard on yourself though, we all make those kinds of mistakes at one time or another.

I had been planning on a new pic of him, because he had filled in his color so and had grown up. I bought him from Synirr on AB. Sometimes I just do such careless things. He didn't like the lid on the critter keeper (actually he didn't like the critter keeper), so I usually only filled it half way, so I could leave the lid off. But sometimes when he needed his water changed at an inconvenient time, I would fill the keeper up with fresh water and put the lid on. I forgot the lid. Idiot carelessness! Stupid! Stupid!! Stupid!!! I just keep doing stupid things with the Bettas.

I am sorry for your loss. Don't be too hard on yourself! It happens. One of my favorites jumped several months ago--I just didn't think about how much extra room there was in the lid for the heater and filter and she slipped through.

We all make mistakes jollysue. I forget to do alot of things... and sometimes suffer the consequences. I've read your many posts of the past and I'd say you're a good caretaker.. Forgive yourself please as you would forgive other people.

We (Betta and I) were just getting past a terrible infection that took most of my Bettas due to my ignorance and stocking more than I could keep up with after I moved. Just when I thought were were safe...and past it.

I still have Fynn of Distinction, his look-a-like brother (both Synirr boys), Miss Kinky and one of her sisters (both Slashluff girls.) All the rest went down one at a time--what 30 or 40 Bettas?

I know I lose confidence in myself when I lose one but take heart... things will get better. I'm not sure my wounded one is gonna make it or not. Makes you feel like maybe you're not up to the task when they don't doesn't it? I've heard many bad stories about moving fish so you are not alone there.....
You gave them a better life than they might have had otherwise...

It's not just you who does those mistakes
I know lots of people who kept their tank lid open and their betta jumped out.
Actually, i'm one of them!!!
But I caught him...
I was cleaning Kenni's tank and he jumped out. There's this space between the bathroom counter and the floor, and he jumped between that, I tried picking him up but he just squirmed. He finally fell and I moved the counter to get hima and placed him back in. I was soooo lucky. Now I'm so scared when I clean both Kenni and Alex's tank.
I am so sorry for your little betta's death...

I will not have any more sorority tanks. I lost everyone. Uhm! But I have extra 10 usgs. Just nowhere to set up an extra permanent one.

Someday I want another pastel aqua Lips. He was quite a fella. I am still trying to get to cleaning the tanks though. Re homing several fish and communities is backed up. But I have put in for 2 weeks off. I still have boxes in the bed room to walk around.

Where did you move and what's up?

Also betta_luv wants a history of the evolution of the Betta.
