148.6L (39.2 gallon) aquarium journal

Do I need to add some new plants in the tank (the same ones as before)? Because I feel like I need to add in a few more plants for the tetras to hide in.

If you decide to repot some Ambulia, just be wary of light penetration at the bottom. Since you have the majority of the top covered, light levels won't be as high, and the plant may become leggy. I usually end up trimming Ambuila every couple of weeks so it doesn't become leggy. You could also take some of the Vallisnaria runners and plant them in the sand.

Good point.

Did a top-off and fertilisation today. I went a bit above the blu-tack water line to experiment a higher water level for the tank so the filter won't be as noisy as just below the water line.

I acclimated and added 5 more silvertips into the tank today. They're younger than the other silvertips, so I have to monitor their behaviour with the rest of the 18 silvertips. One of them are much smaller than the rest, and he's? being chased more frequently by the bigger tetras. There is a clear hierarchy between the tetras: the bigger ones are more colourful than the smaller, younger ones; they chase the smaller ones and each other. I will monitor them in the next few days.

Don't add anymore tetras to the tank. Each time you add new fish you risk introducing diseases. If you want more silvertips, breed the ones you have. :)
Good point. I wouldn't want to risk overstocking the tank of diseases. At least I've got 23 fish total (including the eldest trio, 20 new silvertips) now. I am continuing to monitor the new fish for a few more days and will take reasonable action if any fish have disease. I can't have three tanks in the house, but I have a spare near-5 gallon tank for temporary fry raising.

Big news: I just found a silvertip fry while doing tank maintenance today. Apparently, it survived in the tank the whole time without being eaten by the parents. I tried taking a good pic of it, but that's what I took of the fish.

It’s a decent size. As long as it’s bigger than the mouth of the adults it should be just fine :)
