Hi there,

I've just noticed some kind of worm lodged in the substrate, hanging out wiggling its body around, i've included images below. You can see it in front of the lead weight in the photos. Is this safe? Should i do something about this or is it nothing to worry about?

If you could circle it, it'll be helpfull, but if it is what suspect I see, just remove it & no doubts!!

What is this, a spot the worm competition, i can't see it  i can't remember seeing any worms in any of my tanks over the years, whatever it is, its proberly no good, i would take it out :good:

You may find, when you look closely, that it is a feeder root from the plant that the lead weight is wrapped around. If not I would follow Shelaugh's advice and remove it.

i would have to agree with the above statements, bestt to play it safe and (if you confirm it is a work) remove of it, maybe check for others... and watch closely for a while to make sure there isnt any others. might not be an issue, i really dont know, but why risk it.

Speaking as one who knows nothing, I did come across some similar examples wandering the net and in those cases, they turned out to be blackworms, a tasty fish snack.
Can't ID them myself, but it's something to consider - any live foods ever fed in that tank?

Check fish for red sores or pierce marks on fish.
