do a 75% water change and gravel clean the substrate every day for a week.
test your water quality for ammonia, nitrite and nitrate.

did you get someone to feed the fish while you were away?
    is the filter working properly?

No wonder why. Filters helps maintain clear water, and also mixes up the water, to provide oxygen.

How long has the tank been running?

What do you feed your fish?

    Is it a tropical tank?

    :)

Just do water changes, gravel cleaning and put more live plants in to use the excess light and nutrients.

    How are the plants diseased?

If you quarantine the new plants in a separate tank for a month, you can treat them for snails and protozoans with copper, and changing the water every couple of days will usually get rid of everything else.
