Extract taken from the Sun newspaper 14th Feb 2007.
The size size of a male`s "sword" IS important - when it comes to fish.
Boffins found tropical female green swordtails matured faster sexually when shown males with the biggest sword-like tails. But males matured more SLOWLY if they saw others with bigger swords.
Dr Craig Walling, of Exeter Uni, said "It`s the first evidence a spieces adjusts its sexual maturation in respose to visual cases."
So, size really does matter then.
