who does and who doesn't use dechlorinator
please tell what the pros and cons are

I dont use dechlorinator, problem is you have to leave the water stand for some time.

I also use dechlorinator - - since I use a siphon attachment to take water from the tank and put fresh water back in from the sink directly, I can't let water stand out for 24-48 hours for a waterchange.


plus...what if you ever need to do an emergency waterchange but you have no water prepared and sitting out?

I know what you mean, I do 50% a week so not using it would be madness IMO. On theodd occasion that I've added a couple of buckets without dechlor to top up evaporated water I have to tear my eyes off the tank as I'm checking every fishy movement in case they look odd!

I won't tell you the pros and cons as im tired and there have been lots of water conditioner threads recently

There is chlorine in my tap water; I want it gone. I wouldn't take a chance and do a water change without using API Tap Water Conditioner.

I don't as I use bottled water which doesn't contain any chloride.
