Where Will Liverpool End Up In The League 08/09

early days see where u lot are at xmas u are playing well will see wot happens thru the season hard season for the teams that came up

yeah agree, but we have heart, and faith, and will shock the premiership this year i think.

keep it up if u dont let your head down u could do well
but i have u going down got a 5 pounds in u and stock going down and liverpool to win the champions league

and liverpool to not win the league

Hull are doing well but once you start getting matches against the top teams then that is when i think you will rapidly decline.

Good luck to you though, i would like them to do well.

rafa likes the champions lge nites but the prem lge is bread and butter but he doesnt think that he thinks ill do well in the champions lge ill have more money to spend but 4th not good enough for the fans

What's that opinion based on?

Arfie

Based on their league performances over the last number of years. He doesn't seem capable of getting the team to perform consistently well.
On the contrary, we have finished:

2005 - 5
2006 - 3
2007 - 3
2008 - 4

Whilst appearing in 2 champions league finals and a semi, 1 fa cup final and a league cup final in his first 4 years, I'd say that's pretty consistent performance, wouldn't you? When a new manager comes in to an underperforming club he normally has to rebuild not just the team, but the entire squad. Traditionally that is done by first shoring up the defence, then moving forward. You are not likely to be challenging for a league while this is happening, but cup runs are possible. With the extraordinary exception of Mourinho at Chelsea who took over a good squad with pretty much unlimited funding, this is how all managers do it.

For the ManU fans who forget that history existed before 1993, Sir Alex Fergusons record in his first 4 seasons was: 11th, 2nd, 11th, 13th. Utd fans were calling for him to be sacked but he managed to win the FA cup, which saved his job, 2 years later he won the league for the first time in 26 years and the rest is the history that Utd fans remember ;)

See any similarities? Apart from Rafa's record in his first 4 years being considerably better than Fergusons was, he is slowly rebuilding a club, he is bringing in loads of talented youngsters from abroad and the academy to bring through the system. He has numerous recent additions to the squad to get settled in. He's built a solid defence (if you ignore the bilge that Andy Grey pumps out about zonal marking  ) and is now working on the attack. Oh and lets not forget he lost our "best" player before a ball had even been kicked when he arrived in 2004, when Owen went to Real Madrid.

For some reason everyone seems to think that comparing the last 4 years (his first 4 in charge) against Ferguson who's had years to bring players through is a reasonable comparison. Look at Ronaldo, possibly the best player in the world, how easily we forget that for the first 3 seasons he was a one trick pony who gave the ball away nearly as often as he fell over. It took 3 years for the best manager to mold him into what he is now, how the hell is Benitez supposed to mold players like Babel in under a year?

So forgive me if I don't agree with a ManU fan about sacking a manager who has consistently strengthened the entire club whilst winning trophies during his 4 years in charge, when the bulk of ManU fans would have sacked Ferguson if they had their way after 4 years ;)

dont u want the lge then m8 yes its nice to have all that but when man u are only one away from 18 lge its not good
be good to win the lge to make it 19 two in front of them i love rafal but hes takes the champions lge first and the lge second and the rest in wot ever order he see's fit
wld be nice to win the prem for the first time and then build on that every year id the same i have hopes of winning the prem lge and by xmass we are out of the running look at last year we played well but not win somwe games 14 od draws some of them we was winning if theres a champions lge game he dont play a full side the wk ill change the side before the next champions lge game for sure
i have been around a long time and been a season ticket holder for 20 years up in till the last 15 years still do go to the games but not much last year went to 20 odd games

as u sed it took man u 26 years to win the lge again and look at what Sir Alex Ferguson hes done win it all
and when he steps down be hard for the next one to do half wot he has done

i remember days we had to win the league first and then the rest
