Pinterest has gone full Pinterest on me and has given me ideas without any of the information I need!

Can anyone tell me what the plants used in this setup are? I think it may be vallisneria but I'm not sure which type?

Am I right in thinking they spread very quickly? I like the minimalist look of the tank in that pic so want to avoid any little shop of horrors business!

Yes, they do spread quite quickly, assuming you provide enough nutrients.

They spread by runners though so it’s quite easy to just snap off the runners when you see them if you don’t want them to spread. I’ve had them in medium lighting without fertilizer and had no issue with them growing excessively but maybe different with higher lighting and/or with fertilizer.
