I setup a tank that has 6 neon tetras, 1 Siamese algae eater and a live plant as that is all I decided to get at the time. Was wondering what to get next

What are the tank dimensions (length x width x height)?

What is the GH (general hardness), KH (carbonate hardness) and pH of your water supply?
This information can usually be obtained from your water supply company's website or by telephoning them. If they can't help you, take a glass full of tap water to the local pet shop and get them to test it for you. Write the results down (in numbers) when they do the tests. And ask them what the results are in (eg: ppm, dGH, or something else).

How long has the tank been set up for?

Has the filter cycled (developed the colonies of beneficial bacteria to keep the water clean)?

Be careful with siamese algae eater and chinese algae eater they will get more aggressive as they grow.

I agree with @Barry Tetra, I once had a friend with a CAE. It was cute when it was younger, but it soon got big and aggressive.

How big is your tank? (Gallons, height, width, depth)
