black phantom tetra

I have been wondering wether to get some of these. Are either of this fish nippy at all? Would either be suitable to put in with guppies?

I've kept these in the past they get qute a good size for tetras and lok good in a shoal. The beauty of them is at feeding when they are like mini piranha dicing from below to food at surface. I don;t remember them being nippy but then I have never kept a guppy!!

by big I mean about 2inch

They can get nippy with each other if you only keep 2 of them. They don't school as strongly as most other tetras. They will wonder way from each other and stick close when scared. They are very hardy and can get to be 3" They are peaceful. They don't bother tank mates. But will pick on each other like I said before. So keeping at least 4 or more would be best.

Cool fish we has some growing up.

thanks for clearing that up !they're in a group of 3 just now the smallest is around 1year old and already the same size as my Juvie angels really wouldn't wanna risk adding anymore as it's been the 3 of them for so long the adults are around 5years old...How much longer can i expect them to live ?

:D
