What is the meanest fish you've owned?

I would have to say a jack dempsey (Cichlasoma octofasciatum) and a texas cichlid (Cichlasoma cyanogutatum). Meanest things I ever had. I also had a Midas cihclid (Cichlasoma cyanogutatum) that bit me. I have had a lot of predatory fish like gulpers (Asterophysus batrachus) that ate other fish, but wouldn't consider them aggressive, just hungry.

Texas cichlid, nearly killed breeding golden severums and even tore up plecs and my raphael (very armoured catfish) so much so he had to be kept alone.Mushed my 7" male convict (largest convict i've seen) when I tried to reintroduce it to a 100gal, and in the space of 5 minues it had beaten it at mouth locking and was chasing after it all around the tank.
I must get one again though...

I have now taken mean fish to the next level with my Dorado, the words "bad attitude" were invented for these fish. Cichlids, pah, they are just breakfast.

You ruin all these big fish/most aggressive fish threads :grr:

I have to agree with CFC about the butterkofferi. They are nasty. And we had some black belt cichlids that were just about as bad. But my all time favorite was a coal grunter that kicked the sh-it out of a customer's cichlids. He wanted something tough and nasty to live with his fish, and be capable of defending itself. He bought a 5inch coal grunter and put it in his tank of assorted big cichlids. He brought it back the next day coz it hammered all his fish :) Ah that still makes me laugh today. He gave it back and asked for something a little less agro. I offered him a 3inch coal grunter but he declined.

My RTBS, Gold Severums and my Senegal Birchir which ate 6 giant scissortail raspboras :(

The meanest fish i kept were my Tilapia buttikofferii's, they were nasty with a capital N. The meanest i have now is my jardini arowana, infact it is probably meaner than the butti's but just hasnt done the same ammount of damage to another fish, yet. Another mean fish i had was a black shark, the bigger nastier cousin of the redtail black sharks, it kept itself to itself most of the time but god help anyfish that swam in front of its cave! My leporanis are quite mean too, theyre only juvies but have already killed two FW baracuda's and a pike cichlid and shredded the fins of a small shovelnose catfish though they seemed to have calmed down now.

Google has no information on this fish :(

LOL

Mine was a nasty type of loach that killed two one of my guppies! I was so angry and gave them to my uncle who managed to kill them in a week in his tank.

Breeding pair of convicts, got them with a second hand tank (was told there were no fish in it...). Made a midas 3x there size back down, which was no pushover (also was in the tank when I got sold it).

Currently I would say my meanest fish is my severum. Not on the scale of some fish listed by anymeans.
