Ugh, I'm tired! I'm getting ready for a 2 week vacation to visit family, both sides. Husband's 50th HS reunion. Laundry done; tanks, water changes & filters Fish sitter instructed. Eating up veggies; composting any that won't keep.

Hopefully packing & picking Meyer lemons to bring is almost everything. That & getting up at 3am Tues. to get to the airport for an early flight. I think once we get there it'll fun & worth all the bother

We haven't been to visit since my mom died 8 years ago. Then we had a couple vacations that didn't include going to Michigan before & after Covid. No parents left, less incentive. We saw many of my in-laws last summer at a "destination wedding" in MT last summer. Flights are different & fewer than last trips. This middle of the night travel both ways is not going to be fun, nor is brain dead driving to get to them. I hope I can sleep a bit on flights even at the likely risk of snorty wake ups

Today and tomorrow promise to be beautiful days. 13c (55 fahrenweird) and sunny. I've had a nasty chest upper respiratory virus, plus a bonus sinus infection, and have been coughing like it's a dance form, but that may have calmed enough for me to grab a spade and getting digging. I love watching the local herd of deer, but they're ranging all over my small garden, and it needs some serious work, then fortification!

It's that zone gardeners hate - not safe to plant much as nights can still dip below freezing, but where no such nights are forecast.

Soon, nights will get to 10c and I can order some killie eggs. Seeds and eggs.

Fully completed the story of Assassin's Creed Orgins. It was such an incredible game. Already started AC: Unity. Has a good start to it already. Just gotta get the controls down

I'm waiting for Diable 4 to drop a bit more as to price through Steam and will grab it. It has already dropped around $20.00 since release. Have to laugh at a guy I know back in Ohio that thinks he is a super gamer. When I finished Diablo 3 I asked him if he had tried it. He claimed that it was impossible to beat if you did as a solo player. He was not happy when I told him that I finished it solo at high difficulty at level 70 something. Actually I played it a bit different than normal. Usually I go for the biggest and baddest weapons but changed strategy. Every item equipped heals me. Almost impossible for me to die as I heal faster than the bad guys can hurt me. I've played it as two different characters and the strategy worked with both.

I never got into video games, but I think I had too many jobs when they started to be a thing, and I just never turned in that direction after. I had to choose - a pile of fish tanks with different species, or video games. I think in many ways it's similar, as you try to crack species after species in fish breeding, and people tell you it can't be done. When you solve species A, someone discovers species T out in the wild and you look forward to trying it.

The stereotyped gamer is a young male who is a socially inept, unattractively angry incel who shuns sunlight and human company. Then you go to a fish convention and it's almost all male, they're often awkward, grumpy loners who wouldn't be chosen by many sane women and who live in basements full of fishtanks...

Maybe I am a gamer of sorts.

Haven't played many AC's but I loved Syndicate. I was amazed the first time I played at how well done the game looked. Even meeting Queen Vic was unexpected. I have played a little of Unity on PC. However, it was poorly optimised, so I quickly gave that up. When I was studying media studies, we used AC III Liberation as a case study product. Surprisingly, there was lots to that game that is looked over, probably because it was released so many years ago.

Unity was recently updated actually. Might be worth a try. They optimized the graphics and reopened the multiplayer servers. Don't know how much better it is on PC now though.
In AC orgins there are multiple historical figures you get to see along with events.
Ceasar's assassination, Pharoh Ptolemy's rule and how he stole Cleopatra's throne (with added fictional aspects to bring the creed into it), Cleopatra's relationship with Rome and her "romantical" involvement with Ceasar to secure Roman partnership.
It was awesome. And then of course Bayek's story. Fictional but amazing

Today I decided that my apartment is haunted and have evidence.

1. A while back my fridge started making loud noises that would indicate the probability that the the evaporator blower had gone bad. This lasted an entire weekend. I put in a work order to have it fixes on Sunday night so it would be in the office Monday. Drop the work order in the drop slot in the office door and go back to my apartment and the fridge is running fine with no noise.
2. Monday morning I get woke up by my living room smoke detector 'chirping' wanting a new backup battery. Get a battery out of my junk drawer and go out to have a smoke intending to change the battery when I get back. Get back in my apartment and the smoke alarm is silent and stayed that way all day. Come straight up midnight and the smoke alarm starts chirping again.

Yep, my apartment is haunted! I don't really mind but the haunt should recognize that I pay the rent and should do its thing while not bothering me. Actually there have been other cases I can't explain but, if haunted, I really don't mind as everything that has happened was harmless and more mischievous than anything. Hey, if I'm going to be haunted, I'm happy that my ghost has a sense of humor.

Of course most of the above is kidding around but who knows? There is more about our world that we don't know than what we do know.

Change the smoke alarm battery - they always do that here before they finally settle in to complain. The fridge isn't a ghost. It's the fish-fairies. They're formed from the souls of every fish that has ever died in a tank. The fridge ones come from fish that died from heater malfunctions.

It's all explicable when you look at it from that point of view.

I worked out in the fishroom this morning. I was unable to get the African fish I was hoping for, so I changed directions and decided to top up some shoals of corys I still haven't bred. I was just out there prepping the quarantine tanks. I should receive Hoplisoma melini, and CW027. Add to that Gastrodermus c 123, and threadfin rainbows, plus Nannostomus marginatus since they were on sale and my entire shoal of 10 is female... what are the odds on that happening?

Shipping is costly, but I expect if I wait, with rising fuel costs, it'll get passed on to the consumer.

4 out of 5 "new" fish coming are top ups to shoals, and the other is a fish I used to breed (threadfin Iriatherina werneri). Tat's when you know you've been in the hobby for a long time - when novelty becomes less important that what you've learned you like.

These corys need to breed.
