What are you doing today?

I had an evening full of puppy cuddles after getting testing to confirm a large blood clot in my arm, which somehow occurred despite the multiple blood thinners I take

A nice relaxing evening:)

Well , I got past that one year anniversary of Elaine’s passing and I feel different about the whole thing now . It seemed important to me to mourn properly for an entire year as a proper thing to do . Now I am going to shift my thoughts inward and contemplate the next and now phase of my life . Life is full of changes and this was a big one but it doesn’t help to get stuck and forget that each day is new . So with that I say “ Seize The Day “ .

Watching the Olympics again as I love them. Don't like how political they have become but still love. :)

I've been especially following the USA women's hockey team as they are doing history making achievements.

Still there are things I don't understand with the hockey. Come Thursday the USA and Canada will play for the gold. If Canada wins the game they get the gold but the USA already beat them. That would make them both 1-1 against each other. Why would there not be a tie breaker game?

I also don't understand the point system. I have no idea as to what the points actually mean. I THINK that I understand that it is a sort of tie breaker thing but what happens if Canada wins Thursday yet the USA has more points? Is the Canada win automatically give them the gold or is it seen as a tie with the USA getting the gold on points?

I was a lousy hockey goaltender as a kid, and my 8 year old cousin wanted to play. So I taught her the stance and the basics of playing the angles. She stunned us with her reflexes, and 40 years ago became the women's national team goaltender. She was one of the pioneers of women's hockey, playing on boys teams until women's teams started up. Alas, she was injured right before the Olympics, and was never able to play again.

The round robin is like the regular season, and the knockout rounds are one game. The Canadian team is in a bit of a scoring personnel dip right now, so I'm not optimistic about how it's going to go for the final. I wasn't sure they'd get that far. But we all like the story of Goliath being dropped for a reason, and maybe that old story will play out against the US.

When you watch people skiing around with rifles it is hard to get engaged.
Is this a thing? What are they shooting at? I refuse to watch the Olympics this year but I may tune in for that!

Or maybe I'll just head up to the hills and shoot at skiers out the window of my truck. Goin' for the gold baby! (just kidding Francis, calm down)

Actually I'm headed to Aqua Rocks to pick up some crypts. Never tried 'em before but I can't be considered an all-inclusive plant murderer until I do.

Hopefully they'll take pity on an old guy on crutches and carry them out for me.

Yesterday I had decided to "break the taboo": going alone to a Carnival event here in Mococa ("Carna Bajas" in "Bajas Restaurante & Bar"). As a bachelor (and I am not referring to my Biology degree), I simply went anyway. I have reserved a table for two people. Who knows? Maybe a soul could appear and sit with me...

Still no job (although I have made some side jobs in the last months and with some interviews), I had to spend as little as I could. I was reading an article on my mobile phone about slavery in Brazil, and I realized that there was some interesting music. What could I do, after all? The place is refined, with a dark ambience covered by not-so-bright illumination.

For some reason, the event was not crowded (I suppose that the place is for people with higher income, thing uncommon in Mococa). There were two music bands, with samba and pagode songs. I also decided to post several Stories in Instagram while I was at the place. Even not having any idea of how to dance that, nor having the House music I would love to listen to, I simply started to dance, all alone. There were some people outside, but most of them did not dance. So, it was a liberating moment. I do not know if anyone has filmed me or photographed that moment, but I would love to see these moments later, because I like to have recorded memories.

Since my tendons are still seditious, I had to rest and sit for a while. Later, I decided to dance again. This time, some people were dancing, mostly women, but not as much enthusiasm as I apparently had and hoped (and I am not bragging myself). A pretty one, it seems, who was having fun, but I have not tried to flirt with her, knowing that I am a quiet and reserved person. But she must have looked at me. It was impossible not to look at a weird person dancing all alone without any apparent reason for that. Definitely, I was feeling like a carioca and not just a caipira, in spite of not having any issue with my caipira origins (São Paulo state countryside). For some moment, I thought if I could simply dance next to her as a courtship move... but I did not do this. It seems that the two music bands got enthusiastic with me dancing like that.

After all, I had some fun, despite going alone and not dating any sweet soul (the music and the dance were better than the food itself). Later, I will publish photos. If the photographer from the event authorizes, I will post these pictures too. Today I intend to go to yoga, as I did on Monday. I hope I will not need physiotherapy anymore.

Carnival up here has ended, and the snow and ice in Quebec were waiting for Brazilian dancers, @Lanpenn ! As far as I heard, none showed up.

You could have stayed in the ice hotel, on a bed made of... ice. It's quite beautiful in there.

@WhistlingBadger You are going to love this since you are a fan of “ Emergency “ . Yesterday’s episode had Dr. Kelly Brackett / Robert Fuller getting a 55 gallon aquarium in his private office . The two guys from the aquarium shop set it up complete with two corner box filters and a lavish collection of plastic plants . They filled it from five gallon plastic jugs they brought and then added the fish . This is where it gets hairy ! First in a nice silver Angelfish , then a Calico , a pair of red swordtails , two Kissing Gourami’s and then while one aquarium guy is adding the next fish it jumps to the floor ! It’s a Pimelodella gracilis catfish and Fuller grabs it barehanded to put it back and save it . He gets a sharp poke in the hand from a spine and after a short time gets all woozy and Dr. Joe Early has to save him . He came out of it okay none the worse for wear and I thought this was a great aquarium adventure .

Shooting at targets. ;) It is cross country skiing with locations where you have to hit a target before continuing. Pretty boring to me.
I have long wanted to make a horsebow--one I could carry in a back scabbard--and use it to compete in biathlon. (Preferably while wearing a viking helmet, of course) But I don't know...50 meters is a heck of a shot with a short bow, especially since the target is only 2-3 inches wide.

If they'd let me use a snowmobile with a rocket launcher, I could have my own gold medal. I need to invent a sport only I play so I can be the Greatest Of All Time at it.

The Olympics are okay, but there's no fish breeding competition, or aquascaping.
