What are you doing today?

Way back in the 1980's, when I lived in Ohio, I used to start some seeds that won't be mentioned even though the stature of limitations is well past in my tank. I'd push the seeds through very thin Styrofoam squares and float in the tank. Root development was amazing often ending up with 2 inches of plant above the water and 6-7 inches of roots. Gave a great start before moving to dirt.

My new 20 gallon long is now fully cycled. It took nearly six weeks despite using old sponges and Dr. Tim’s One and Only. I netted Mr Red, my triple red a. cacatuoides, and placed him in his new home. He was in a breeder tank with his Mrs. and fry. Next I’ll transfer the Mrs. into the new tank. The only other occupants will be 10 n. beckfordi, if they make it through quarantine. So far the pencils look lively and cool. Pictures tomorrow.

I bet the fish liked that arrangement!

The roses are beautiful. Do you think roses will grow aquaponically on top of a tank?
I looked it up. Yes. There are several youtube videos on the subject. Interesting. The challenge would be providing enough light for miniature roses to bloom--minimum 6 hours of sunlight or 14 hours of serious indoor plant lights--that would not be an overpowering, algae-producing amount of light for the aquariums. My mini-roses get 6-9 hours of sunlight depending on season. None of my tanks are exposed to that much though several get some afternoon sun.

Sigh, totally a wrong thing to do but, one time, I got talked into attaching a certain smoke source to the intake of my piston driven air pump. The result was quite comical and seemed to cause no harm. Would not do the same now but was young and dumb. ;)

Installing apps and transferring files to my new phone. My old phone died last Sunday. I went a week with no phone, no contact with the outside world, no posting on fish forums. Ya know what? It was ok. Other than being a little bored.not.killing time playing some games, I was fine. Perhaps this is a function of age. Could a twenty something go a week being disconnected???

Actually I just gave up looking for a decent source of deli meat for sandwiches here. I don't know why but the deli meat available is VERY salty. Give me Boar's Head, the best deli meat I've had. Sadly they have no outlet in my area. :(

<edit>
DUH!! Just dawned on me that I have a 7 inch meat slicer. I could easily buy larger cuts of beef, turkey, chicken, etc.. Could even do with a corned beef brisket. Prep and cook so it is what I want and then just slice and freeze. For instance let's take a rolled and tied sirloin roast. Put it on my indoor rotisserie and do how I like. Have a couple of meals and slice and freeze the rest for sandwiches.
