Water Testing

when is the best time to take my samples for testing water quality, i am currently doing mine after i have carried out my weekly partial water change. I leave the tank to settle for approx 30 mins then take the samples is this ok?
ps is this also the best time to add liquid food for my plants?

Hmm, somone told me that a water change can give you false readings for about 8 hours or something. I don't test mine that regularly anymore but if I do then I do it just before a water change.

I usually test approx 1 hour after a water change and I was adding Flourish with the fresh water that I was refilling with when I had a planted tank

Can I just ask, are you taking your water to be tested instead of testing it yourself?

then after but about two hrs
after just to make sure everything

Can I just ask, are you taking your water to be tested instead of testing it yourself?

i test the samples myself with api liquid testers

i've thought about testing before and after but then thought i'm using my testing stuff twice as fast and this stuff aint so cheap so now i decided to test after the change as thats what my fish are now living in and if it shows a problem then i know i need to act.... just my reasoning

Okey doke no worries, I just wondered as you said 'take samples' and I wasn`t sure if you were 'taking them' to your lfs

This is quite an interesting topic!

I also use the API liquid testers and I too do it an hour or 2 after the water change.
