Water Is Misty / Merky

Hi all,

i am new here and i setup my new tank yesterday. its a 140L tank. i washed the gravel atleast 10 times before putting it in the tank. and then once i filled the water in it became merky/misty. i have added the starter kit and conditioner and tablets to remove the chlorine from the water but it hasnt changed this?

am i missing something?

wot kind of filter do you have? had same problem myself but wit sand i just had to leave my filter runnin n give it a day to settle
 
sound's like you may not have washed it enough if it's still merky,,,,Again what filteration do you have?can you add filter floss to the filter, the will help remove fine particle's :good:
 
Welcome to the forum Rascal. All new tanks are a bit cloudy when first set up. the air that was dissolved in the water in your pipes suddenly has the pressure taken off so it comes out as tiny bubbles. The bubbles are so small you can only see them as a mist in the water. By tomorrow you will have bubbles all over everything in the tank so do not be alarmed by that either. It would be good for you to get off on the right foot with your new hobby. I suggest that you read the thread on fishless cycling a new tank and filter. There is a link to it in my signature area. You definitely want to review the information before thinking about stocking the tank with fish.
 
As mentioned above ... the filtration will take care of any suspended articles.

i have sponge in the filter, looks to be clearing up a bit... i guess after a few more days it should be clear...
