They should get to nearer 23" to 26" mate, and about 29" in the wild,

i have never seen a dovii that big in any aquarium p.bass get that big infact they get even bigger around 33"

but will keep my eyes peeled for a nice size one like that

Wildwoods are getting some : Wild Cichla monoculus in , i'm pretty sure these don't get that big, around 18-24" tops after a long time.
Dovii are awsome, gotta love the teeth and agression on them!

Just because you haven't seen dovii's this size doesn't mean they shouldn't reach this size. To say they max out at 13" is wrong, females will probably max out at 16"ish but males should surpass this given the right conditions. Also I don't see what P. bass have to do with this.

on one hand i agree with you but have you see a dovii bigger than 26 " and the pbass was an example for size but thanks for you opion

no doubt in the wild they will grow massive but in a large home aquarium i would say they wouldnt reach that size unless its on its own

No I haven't seen a dovii bigger than 26" in captivity (confirmed that is), but neither have I seen a walrus, the great wall of china or gravity but that doesn't mean they don't exist. Sorry if my tone is comming across a little confrontational, it is not intended. I'm mearly trying to say that dovii's can and do exceed 13" for sure, 16" should not be a barrier also given the right conditions.

a google image search for 'dovii fishing' or 'guapote fishing' and you will see some bigger than 16", even with the techniques fishermen use to enhance the size of the catch). Granted these are wild fish, but shouldn't aquarium fish be given the potential to reach this size instead of saying 'oh its a captive fish, it doesn't need that much space'.

If a fish doesn't reach its potential size then something isn't right, it could be diet, environment or even genetics (but unlikely).

Out of interest what size tank is it?

6ft x 2 x x2 also have a 6ft x2.5 x 2 i have alot of big tanks mate
both have fluval fx5s water stats are fine and they are fed on a vaired diet not just doramin

Maybe it's a midget's arm and the fish is small
