Take Over The Newsletter.

i'll do the begginers article, seems simple...just put a few begginer things up like how to set up a tank properly and then tbc in the next issue ect.

Thanks orange shark.

lilfishie, sorry but andywatson29 is already doing that one.

To be honest, no offence to Andy but it is not a good idea just to have one person on that job. Instead you should ask people to write up on fish they have instead of just reading up on fish as they can give their own person views on the fish, instead of text book information

Isnt it kinda pointless to do a species profile when we have the TFF fish index??

Anyway, dodnt forget about the marine section. =]

No offence taken Ace!

post in the marine section to see if anyone would like to write about maine things?

Also factor in the 'different strokes for different folks' aspect of fishkeeping and it's no wonder the last attempt didn't hang around for long.

You forgot to point out that it was unadulterated tripe as well. :D

However, as mentioned, the most likely product will be something that appeals to those contributing and has nothing new or of great interest to anyone who reads the board frequently.

Not really, it's like a focus on a specific species. It can get someone interested.

Anyhow, regarding my articles, I am willing to do both requested articles and also, you can use articles from my website, smellslikefish.Tk Please ask permission first, however. Also, how will I be attributed, if I will be? Would you be willing to leave a link to my website? If not I'm fine with it, but regardless, I'd appreciate it.

Due to TFF rules links are not allowed in the above respect.

As Andy so rightly pointed out above most of the articles were already available to view on the board already
I propose if you do get permission (pending mods decision) that you request new, fresh and unpublished articles only. If you do this then you might get a more favourable response.
It needs to be new and it needs to be fresh. Also I would call into question the longevity of the interested parties. Its OK for the outset of anything but speaking from experience (international fishkeeping organisation journals) once your initial contributions are used up what usually happens that you'll be screaming for articles with little or no response.and then you start to publish drivel.
It must also be kept in-house with personal accounts and pictures only as you may be in danger of copyright laws otherwise.

Im sorry I havent been a member here for longer so I could have seen some of the old newsletters some of you guys are so quick to down..

Keith is a young fella 14-15 if im right and has a desire to be creative and contribute to this site and as such would do a lot better with his glass half full rather than half enpty.

With some of the remarks made about this thread it amazes me this site is so popular and has as many members as it does, talk about negativity.

What is it all you negative guys excpect from a newsletter? Do you think its going to be life changing and when you read it you will have the knowlege to the secrets of life or that once you read it you will be a superior fishkeeper knowing all? A newsletter is simply a way of highlighting certain points over a given time and is generally emailed so that people who dont visit the site that often are encouraged back in one way or another. Or get a quick recap without trolling through all the old threads and posts.

After reading this thread for a while I suspect no matter what gets published there is a group that will just rubbish anything that gets done and find this very sad, inseatd of encouraging this young enthusiastic fishlkeeper who is willing to give his time for free and who clearly has a passion some seem like they are sitting waiting to heckle.

Seems its already been decided by some that what ever get published is going to be boring or unintersting so makes me wonder why these people are even members here or why they themselves dont offer contribition to avert this boring publication.

There are some people on this forum that write very interesting and informative and helpfull posts and should be encouraged not put down, the newseltter will not change your life and its not going to change fishkeeping but with any luck it will be informative and amusing and have a few nice pics and if it has that and thats not good enough then what is it you want for nothing?

Whilst I agree with what Tag has said above, we must remember this is a democracy and people are entitled to their opinions and not be railroaded by just one persons viewpoint.
Yes I agree with the ressurection of the Newsletter but other peoples views and criticisms weither it be constructive or otherwise should be respected.
I re-iterate what I stated earlier I believe IMHO that if its fresh material and not previously published then we will have a good publication and all the support necessary will be given to Keith or whoever regardless of his/her age.

I totaly agree BigC and have read many of your posts and as such think you yourself would be a great contributor with your clear knowledge, but with the Mods as editors and helpers/contributors like ms Wiggles and others I hardly see any railroading going on eh?

I cant offer any support by way of offering in articles I wish I could but when you read through these boards there are some terrific posters who could turn that into great reads or amusing stories in a newsletter.
