My friend has 2 swayback (curved spine) guppy fry. They are 3 months old. She wants to keep them and wants to know: if they mate with another guppy (not swayback) would it be hereditary for their babies' spines to be curved also?

I have no idea, but my guppies had babies 3 months ago and one of the 11 has a curved spine. I don't know if it's a girl yet, but her name is Candy (as in Cane) for his/her swayback.

I would love to know if it is hereditary, and if it si, what percentage of fry come out crooked.
I am keeping ole Candy no matter what, but I don't want tanks of curvy fish!

It isnt hereditary. There are always some like that.To avoid this abnormality make sure you are giving your babies a well balance diet that includes rich protein; This is achieved by feeding your fry with brime shrimp or daphnia(freeze dried, frozen or alive)This not only would make them grow stronger but faster.
