That’s Rich Koz in his alter ego Svengoolie . The facial hair is grease paint like Groucho Marx used to do . You would never recognize Rich out of costume . He’s been doing his show out of Chicago , or more specifically , Berwyn Illinois for over forty years . It’s a lot of fun with him doing commentary on the movie , trivia tidbits and interviews with fans and stars both . He and his sidekick Doug Graves also do a musical interlude that is funny . And remember when you order his merchandise - No Personal Checks !

It’s been a long time since I’ve seen it and I don’t recall Jim Carrey too much from it but , yes , Geena Davis is fun to watch too . Both her and Jeff Goldblum were great in The Fly . Weren’t they married in real life too ? I wish Sven would show Transylvania 6-5000 , that was a comedic tour de force with Jeff Goldblum .

Any of you of a certain age remember Zacherly (John Zacherle)? He was the prototype for the cool ghoul horror movie host in the 50s and 60s. Laser wit and flawless timing. He was a fixture on local NYC and Philadelphia TV and, I believe, he was eventually syndicated to some west coast stations. He also made ghoulish records and appeared in a few films.

Wow , that Zacherly guy looks like the real deal without even any makeup . I’ve never heard of him as he must have stayed regional to NYC and Philadelphia . I like that picture !

Here he is playing cards with Isobel at home in the coffin. I remember when he switched channels, from WABC to WWOR I believe, there was an episode when he was eagerly awaiting Isobel's arrival "from the old channel." She eventually arrived...in a shipping crate that he crowbarred open.

Zacherly was a staple at the Chiller Theatre convention in New Jersey until he was well into his 90s. His performance of “The Monster Mash” with house band The Dead Elvi was always a highlight.
