This movie has some very realistic mountaineering scenes and the special effects are pretty good for its time . The main character is played by Forrest Tucker , better known as Sergeant O’Rourke from the classic TV series “ F - Troop “ . HOLD ON TO YOUR HATS !

Joe E. Brown is a hoot in this and the unlikely romance between Peter Lorre and Joyce Jameson is funny . Basil Rathbone is unrecognizable this far after his heyday as Sherlock Holmes but fans will recognize his voice . The color photography in this movie is vivid and rich , a far cry from the stuff you see today .

Starting right now on METV on Svengoolie is an awesome movie… Invaders From Mars. It’s rated very highly on IMDB. Made in 1953 it should be a fun nostalgic watch.

It starts in 45 minutes where I am . I’ve never seen this one and the preview looks interesting . I wonder what that drill is going to do to that woman’s head ? Why does the weird Martian have to be carried about in a container ? These and other questions will soon be answered .

The original 1953 (remastered version ) of Invaders From Mars was pretty good but the ending was unexpected . Did the head in the globe alter time ?

Yeah, the ending was strange. It was all a dream but more like a premonition of what was to come. The martians were not very realistic… men in poor “Martian costumes. They should have used midgets or short youths to play the part of the martians. Albeit, it was a very entertaining and well made movie.
