Starting Fishless Cycle Thread

Day 57. Stats all zero at 12 hours except PH 7.6. I'm really enjoying seeing baby blue nitrates and PH at every reading!

Thanks for the advice on the algae problem. I am hoping to finally get some fish on Friday evening providing the reading tomorrow is o.k. If it is I'll do a complete water change tomorrow night and clean the tank as well as I can, including the bogwood which is looking rather green at the moment.

Hopefully it may settle once the fish arrive. I can't tell you how good it feels to be saying that at last. It has at times seemed a very long road especially towards the end, but I'm just so glad to have had so much advice from you all, you've been great ! :good:

Will carry out my last stats reading tomorrow (all being well) and will post the results. Keeping fingers crossed now!

Day 58. Stats all zero again!!! PH 7.6  Wow! There at last!

Tank ready and waiting to go now. So looking forward to the arrival of fish after work tomorrow. It's a good feeling knowing that the bacteria are doing their job. It's been worth the wait although obviously frustrating at times, especially towards the end, but so glad that part is over. Now the real fun begins! :good: :good:

and don't forget the last important thing you need to do, get your camera out. we want piccies!!

Day 59 . Fish Have Arrived! Collected my Harleqin Rasboras and C. Julii alias C. Trilineaus this evening (hope that's correct, forgive me if it's not, but I did have a go). What a long awaited moment.

Great fun watching them settle in, keeping me amused for hours. The C Julii are so busy it's great seeing them at last. Will try and get some photos on asap.

I just want to say a big "Thank You" to all of you who have offered your advice and experience to me over the last two months. There is no doubt that I would never have managed to cycle the tank without the time that you all give so freely to "newbies" like me.

:good: I'm pleased to say, at last, "Mission Accomplished". :good:

Congratulations Annie. :good:

As MW says, WE WANT PICS!!!!!

edit: The corys are most likely C. Trilineatus, often mis-labelled as C. Julii. :good:

Happiness is fish shaped!!!!! :good: Pics to follow shortly, working on it.

Yey,

It make it all worth while doesn't it? All that waiting but now knowing that you have happy little fish swimming around and that you gave them the best start possible. The waiting sucks but it is all worth it IMO.

Congrats

P.S. PICS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congratulations Anniekins. You have done one of the hardest things we ever do as fish keepers, you have established a good home for your new fish. I really love it when I have a tank go from an empty chemical factory to a living fish tank with all that activity.

Couldn't agree more with you OldMan47. Can't keep my eyes off them at the moment!
