Spawning Teqs

Oh Maddie, your pics are excellent. I especially loved the spawning pics. Great job!

YAY.....for the wrigglers :hyper: :hyper:

Does that make me a Granny

Haha, granny Netty! There are loads of them in there, loads and loads! On a really fantastic note, I won't be working tomorrow like planned, so I get to stay in alll day and allll night and watch them wahoo!

LOL.....you're going to be overun with babies!!!!!

I'm sure that nest is bigger than it was yesterday when we came over :hyper:

Yep it is huge, it's under the bubblewrap and under the leaf on the left and it's all full with black eyes and bobbing grains of salt.. I mean fry.. Heeeeelp!

You wanted fry........now you've got 100s   Can't wait to see how their fins develop and if you get any with purple colouring like granny!!!

I know it's so exciting! I'm hoping for a variety colour wise and some real nice CTPK fins but I know me, any babies are good babies, regardless of colouring and shape
I just can't get over how small they are lol! Dans poor phone has been utterly abused, me trying to get it to focus on something that small.. I'm sure it'll explode sometime soon!

Well I had some worried PMs asking how they are doing today, has Teqs eaten them etc? No he hasn't :D Not so far anyways, I am keeping a close eye on him. The best part of the nest are 'free swimming' with only about 20 still being unbalanced and still falling, unable to correct themselves without his aid. I've taken some pictures but to be honest it is near impossible to focus - and that is if you can find them!

Well it paid off because those are possibly the best photos of eggs/fry I have EVER seen. I get people asking me all the time on other websites (WikiAnswers, I help the supervisors on the fish section) how to tell if there are eggs in a nest. Do you mind if I direct them to those photos? They are seriously great, and really show people what to look for better than a description.

Looks like you have an AWFUL lot. Is that true about Daz ringing the eggs in MS Paint? TBH it wouldn't surprise me. My parents think I'M crazy and all I want to do is set up a half wall as a giant betta setup... what's their problem? lol

Good luck with them, great looking pair and I bet the fry are

Hey Laura, thanks for that. There are better pics out there but it takes hours to find them. That is one of the reasons I was so determined to get some half decent pictures - which I am still trying to do lol. I'm sure Netty will be over with her super cool camera soon to put mine to shame! Yep don't mind people looking at the photos, tis no problem. Yep lot's of babies, it is impossibly to count or accurately put a number on how many. Because of the position of the nest, I can't angle the camera to make the best of the flash or zoom, so when I take a picture now of the underside of the nest it is a little blurry and looks almost orange. Not sure about Daz ringing the eggs in paint? I tried doing that with some of my pictures but after a while they all became a blur and it was just guess work.

Great to hear they are all still doing well and giving Teq's some exercise

Hopefully with my macro lens, I'll be able to focus in on the little ones and get some clear shots of them :good:

How is the vinegar eel looking.....is there quite alot at the top now?

And yes Modaz did circle a whole nest of eggs once......should be in his previous topcs still

Hello, LauraFrog,
I was wondering, if one measly half of one measly wall decorated in bettas (and what more 'green' motif could you hope for?) is a problem for your parents, could our parents possibly be related?

MaddieJ, those bubbles look like pearls - one can only imagine the jewels hatching out from among those.
I keep bewailing the fact that you and Netty and Bronzecat don't live in my area, but I suppose I'm actually lucky you guys didn't emigrate here, bettas and all - I probably would have my parents basement flooded and sectioned off by now.
A far, far betta thing than I have ever done...

Of course, I'd also be living in the garage as a result.
On water, and fish food.
Might be worth while...

OMG OMG OMG we have hundreds, with no exaggeration at all.. HUNDREDS of fry lol! Just home from my Mums and will try and get some pictures. The majority of them are free swimmers now and are zooming around no end. The entire nest in the tank is moving, wiggling, bobbing.. I'm scared o.o It looks like some kind of alien being lol! Oooh Netty you really should come and have a look!
(pictures to come)
