Spawning Teqs

Understandable why you don't have pictures. Don't think that is sad at all! Concerned Daddy... very cute :p A member of the royal family, lol what a mental picture that leaves meh with! I love that they are all different, how boring it must be to have perfect text book spawns all the time! I guess with you moving and having room at home to do some spawns, you'll be able to have the fussy ones at home, reducing your travel miles some eh!

yes definately, i cant wait to be able to stay in at night on planned spawning nights...... that sounds rude

Lmao, I nearly commented on you being driven wild by her.. oh my, must be that time of night. I'm enjoying have Teqs and his sister right nxt to me, a foot from the pc (they are used to it, as their homes are a foot or two the other side normally). It's great being able to keep an eye on them, hopefully if they do get it on, I'll get to see the wrap etc.

Well you COULD have at least said I made about 15 spelling mistakes

They've both just gone tearing through his bubblenest, ripping it in two lol bless him. I've noticed he doesn't add to it by blowing bubbles around the existing nest, instead he starts a new one further away and then connects the two. I've been trying to get some pictures but getting good ones of moving fish is hard enough at the best of times

The fact I've never heard of this second-nest-and-join practice obviously means nothing - have any experienced breeders seen this before, or only in Netty and Bronzecat's line or???
I wonder if he could be doing that to be polite, encouraging her bubblenesting work by showing 2 nests are better than one and can be joined?

With some bettas, I'm not sure if that would surprise me, as they can be so intelligent and good-natured, although the latter trait seems to occur in super delta/half moon lines, in my (sadly) incredibly limited experience (which needs to drastically expand through multi-betta ownership, obviously, as have only 2 SD/HM types, only 2 definite CT and what I think - at an ignorant guess - is a combtail, for males, for personal experience of types) rather than in (crabby) crowntail.
You might be developing a line of (Netty's/Bronzecat's) bettas that are not only special for looks...

Hehe, well I've just let her out, I say just, about 45 minutes ago. She was straight under the nest, lots of wiggling going on today, less chasing (though still a little). He's just adding to the nest at the moment, while she potters about. Been trying to get some pictures but they are just blurred colours under the nest lol. When, or rather IF, they start, I'll get some small vids and a few pics.

Because everyone loves pictures - whether the pictures are crap or not - I thought I would throw these up.

This is Teqs this morning, nesting away.

Then his sister came over, gave him a nudge and they did this..

Unsure as to whether it was a proper wrap. The spawning tank is not something that is brand new, it has a lot of nicks and scratches over the glass, so what may look like an egg or two, could easily be just a mark on the glass..

Anyways, we are getting there!

Edited to say, we have regular wrappings! He keeps missing the mark though and she's only dropped a couple of eggs once, didnt see whether he picked them up or not but he is being a real gentleman.

Edited again to say, we are starting to get a few eggs drop each time now, although it's like he really couldn't care less lol. He doesn't go after them, instead he just goes back up to his nest and blows more bubbles - not blowing eggs into there. So she is down there munching away, which is a real shame! Hopefully he will pick up the idea soon.

She is a real moose! She breaks out of the wraps early and charges down for the two or three eggs she released!

....

He's now wrapping properly AND picking up eggs. I'm hoping he is putting them in the nest - he goes up there are collecting them - but whether he's putting them in I do not know. I'm really happy with the way it is going though, it is a fantastic experience, very exciting. Babies or not, I'm glad I'm getting to watch it happen and if it fails, it is a great experience for them and hopefully mean they learn for the future. w0000000000t!

Going to keep editing this, coz 50 posts of me saying "ooh theyve done this" is going to get boring fast and probably me in trouble :p He's been collecting the eggs properly for a while now, they have been wrapping for about an hour and a half... if he is collecting them and putting them into the nest instead of eating them, we have, at the very least, 150 eggs up there.. oo er!

Who ordered pics?

 He is deffo putting eggs in the nest, been trying to get pics of them, will update with those later.
They are still going lol, fantastic to see.

Netty I wish you were here to watch! I've taken loads of vids for you to see xxx

Maddie i am so pleased for you! Keep with the updates and pics, I am fascianted by betta spawning, and don't have room in the house to do it myself :( so i love to hear about other peoples spawns!

And we've finished! That was amaaazzzing! They were so gentle together, lovely to watch!
Firstly, she is doing great, apart from a few nipped fins, which will heal with no problems over the next few days - we have no injuries whoo! I have no taken her out and put her back into her tank with a good pinch of food and really reduced filter current. It's also got some IAL in, to keep her calm and help her heal.
Secondly, Teqs has done a grand job! I'm so proud of him and Netty I bet you will be too! Took him the first 25 minutes and ten or so wraps to sort himself out but he soon got the hang of it and they were going at it for two hours after that like seasoned pros lmao! The nest has a lot of eggs in it (pics to come later) and right now he is just tending to them, making more bubbles, checking the tank floor, making more bubbles etc. He looks great considering he has been 'working' for nearly 4 days hehe.

I'll update with pictures later on.. wheeeeeeeeeee xxx

I know, how awesome! Still can't believe it, it went.. errr.. swimmingly  Wish you were there to watch.. next time? hehee! There is loads of eggs in there, can't believe it! I just hope all is ok tonight and tomorrow. I'm at my mums now helping out and left Dan in charge over night. I hammered into him that he needs to leave the light on so he can see the eggs, I just hope he does and that he checks it stays on! I'll be home in the morning, eager to check everyone I expect!

I'm sure he'll be fine...............think positive :good:

You got some great pics too......it really is the most amazing thing to watch and I still get excited by every spawn we do!!!!

Soon as we get the van back from the garage tomorrow we'll come over with the stuff you'll need and bring the camera to get some more pics if we get to you before you have to go out. They may even have hatched by then.......so exciting :hyper:

Yeah he has done a great job so far, I don't think he'll mess up now. I was happy with the pics, considering it's off the phone! That is cool, I'll be around under 5:30 tomorrow - Dan will be in all night though. Oooh I can't wait to get back home lol x
