Spawning Teqs

CONGRATULATIONS! Im back at home tomorrow so PM me if you want Bunsen before christmas! He will be very jealous as he has been told about his lovely lady waiting at your house! I cant wait to see how you get along with the babies! xx

Firstly, thank you and welcome back Tilly. Will send you a pm, probably tomorrow when I am settled at home (baby sitting over nights at the moment argh!).

Just arrived home....... whoooooo!

Teqs has shifted his nest and the eggs over a few inches, to the middle of the tank. As far as I can tell, the majority of eggs are still there. I've just seen three fall to the bottom but he gently rushed after them and put them back in place. It is a bit of an awkward spot in the tank to get pictures, right at the back, in the middle. So I can't use the flash or anything to help focus the phone I'm using, though I'll try my best.

Netty even if I am not in later, you are welcome up stairs to have a looksee and get some pictures, really don't mind!

x

Just let them try and stop me......I'll be up those stairs like a flash of lightening

Haha, it's highly possible you'll see some wrigglies before I do! Here are some eggy pics tibby.. Let me know how many you can count. I tried counting but failed miserably..

OMG there are MILLIONS! You will have to do what I think it was Daz did once, sit and ring them all on paint as you count them :p

I'm totally ignorant about most things Betta, but could this be an eye spot?

Could be Nousoup4you......will be able to see it better when I've been to the opticians on Friday lol

Just got back from dropping food and stuff off to Maddies for the babies when they hatch and Teq's is doing a grand job looking after his eggs. I don't think I've ever seen such a thick frothy nest!!!!!

Had to share this too......Maddie obviously left strict instructions for her OH Dan

This was next to the spawning tank!!!!

Actually, I don't think you're supposed to count eggs before they hatch, lol.
But congrats on the nice, romantic spawn!
I think all this spawning is setting off my biological clock.
I want fish babies!
And I can't wait to see baby pics.

Gooooood morning all. Just home from baby sitting - argh what a nightmre that was. Child is ill so I've been up all night, coupled with the fact we had hail storms none stop, I am totally knackered :(

Lmao Netty - you witch! :p Dan has a habit of listening and then forgetting very quickly! If there is something I need him to do or not to do, I always have to write it down or I come home to a big fat "Forgot"! Thanks for coming over last night, did ya have fun? lol.

Looking down on the nest today, the eggs on the top look party or mostly dark in colour, I'm wonder if this could be fungus? As I'm sure Netty will agree, the nest is in the worst possible place for pictures, so I can't really make out if we have any danglies this morning or not. I've seen him scoop up a fair few eggs that have fallen - those seemed healthy eggs. Was just expecting a few danglers when I came home! Never mind, I'm home all day today - hopefully we'll see some life later.. here is where I start worrying..

What if it's fungus? What if they are infertile? What if some HAS hatched but he ate them... rofl *tells self to shut up*

Edit, just seen a fry doing spirals into the middle of the tank.. wahooooo! Ok, I've stopped worrying now. Even if 20 or so of the top eggs are duds, the eggs underneath and further away as all absolutely fine. If they continue to be fine, we have, at the very least, 50 eggs/fry.

There now about 40 fry driving Teqs mad lol. Theres about 30 eggs on the bottom he'll pick up 5 or 6, put them in the nest just to have about 12 fry fall, poor guy can't keep up!

We want more pics! We want more pics! We want more pics!

That is much easier said than done! When people say they are the size of a grain of salt.. they weren't joking! Think grain of salt attached to a hair half the size and thickness of an eyelash and your almost there.. really! I also don't have a digital camera, I use my boyfriends walkman phone lol. So pics I get are mostly out of focus. HOWEVER, I did manage to get these.. look for buzzy blobs or lot's of teeny tiny black dots..
