Spawning Teqs

Well this is the weekend we plan to spawn Tequila, the CTPK we got from Netty and Bronzecat. A few weeks ago we got his sister too and we've been conditioning them with Bloodworm and whatnot over this past week. Teqs has now been in the spawning tank for the past two 1/2 days. There are bubblenests 3 or 4 bubblenests already but one main one and we've now jarred his sister in there too. She starting bubblenesting herself, it now covers half the jar lol. There is no aggression between the two, we had a few flares between the jar but that was all, since this morning they have both been far too busy perfecting their own nests. Teqs has stopped working on his nest so much, instead he is spending time watching her - fantastic behaviour to watch! He's literally on the other side of the jar, a cm from her, watching her build her nest, crazy but wonderful.

Hehe of course! Probably a video or two too, I guess it depends how settled Teqs feels being a Daddy. Had a little misshap yest, she decided she wanted to jump her jar, so she spent 15 mins in with him, split her tail but no major damage done thank god. And this morning I woke to her being in the tank, adding bubbles to his nest lol. Bare in mind I jarred her last night and set her specifically high so she wouldn't jump while I was sleeping at night. Netty and Bronzecat where here and both said the way I was keeping the jar raised enough above the water for her not to jump was great.. it just obviously wasn't high enough lol. She is showing no damage today and like I say has been adding bubbles to his nest, so I may just leave them to it for a bit and see what happens. It's a day earlier than what I would have liked but heyho!

Well you COULD have at least said I made about 15 spelling mistakes

They've both just gone tearing through his bubblenest, ripping it in two lol bless him. I've noticed he doesn't add to it by blowing bubbles around the existing nest, instead he starts a new one further away and then connects the two. I've been trying to get some pictures but getting good ones of moving fish is hard enough at the best of times

Pretty much as sure as can be. I believe she got eggy and dropped a few eggs while still with Netty and Bronzecat - I might be wrong about the dropping of eggs.

How are things going Maddie.......can't believe the little minx jumped that high. She must be an olympic high jump champion lol There was at least 3-4 inches for her to clear. Maybe it's the BW we're getting from Daz that has caused it

I still have them together, because although there are a few split fins, they are both still lively and certainly don't seemed stressed or bothered by the minor damage and being together. They ripped apart the big nest he made, so he has started again - going well but she doesn't seem too impressed so far lol. She has been over and given him a good flare once or twice, can almost see speech bubbles above her head "For god sakes man, get on with it!".

Just pop her back in her house overnight and let her out again in the morning. I'm sure they'll soon get too it after they've had a short break from each other!!!!

yes keep putting her in and out until it happens, ive had my platinum girl in and out of the trap for 3 times now and finally they are spawning tonight.

Oh Daz that is great news, I trust we are getting some piccies?

She is jarred up again now, had some dinner and is watching on Teqs who is making new bubblenests here and there. Fingers crossed for tomorrow!

no got no pics as i left them to it, left work at 6pm and went back to the shop at just before 10pm to check on them how sad is that , ive learnt that this girl will only spawn in the evening and when there is no one spying on the tank, if there is she drops the eggs before spawning, she's done it about 5 times already and it drives me wild, this is the only one that i have to treat like a member of the royal family. and she's a nightmare if she dont like the males she really beats the life out of them, so she's in with one that wont take any nonsense from females. the last one i spawned her with (the yellow hm) he ate the eggs so ive giving him a break this time round.
