I had a bizarre idea walking back from shops today: Air hose rings with anacharis wrapped around them. Like a floating crown of thorns type thing.
Im gonna try two tomorrow. One just with the anacharis on it’s own thatll allow light in and another with the ring centre filled with frog bit and water lettuce.
It’d keep my loose Anacharis stuff in one place and stop em drooping down from the surface tangling with other stuff as I dislodged two surface reaching ones while gravel vacing yesterday.
Anyone seen this done? Or heard of it before? Am I an aquascaping pioneer? Will I go down in fishkeeping history? Will I be fondly remembered by fishkeepers for generations to come? That’d be nice. Especially by the lady fishkeepers, dusty old fishology professors can have the bloke admirers. I’d like it to be known as a Clown Circle if possible? A nice marble one on my headstone would be more than acceptable thank you. National holidays worldwide on the day of its invention: Sept 1st. Waddyathink?
Crazy lol love to see a pic

I did have a little tinker at trying to keep anacharis buoyant with some airline once... I didn't approach it exactly as you've described.. like wrapping tinsel around an indoor TV aerial.. I'd have to say i think you'll succeed Mr Lurch. What I was definitely missing, was a sucker cup wotsit to keep the airline in place.

I also wondered, is there a way to make the airline super buoyant? Filling it with helium perhaps.... ?Hmmmm

I wouldn't. The plant isn't heavy enough to drag it down.
It seemed to drag it down a bit when I tried, but I think that may have been due to the way the airline was coiled.. maybe leaving the tube in hot water helps to shape it better?

I have gravel. And cories. I'm just now realizing that might not be good. The gravel is pretty fine, but does that just mean they might eat it? I'm stressing out. They haven't had any problems eating in the past and have been pooping consistently.

The main reason for avoiding gravel with corys is that some gravel has sharp edges and can damage their barbels. They're unlikely to actually injest the gravel however.
If you're in it for the corys, then switching to sand is the best thing you can do for them

Sand allows them to do their thing - filter feed. Whereby they take mouthfuls of sand and filter it through for infusoria, pushing the sand back out by their gills.
