Snail Infestation

I bought some live plants a few months ago and have just noticed I have around 30 small snails on the glass.
I don't really want them in the tank, how can I get rid of these without dumping in chemicals?

Drop a lettuce leaf in over night, remove in the morning.

Repeat as long as necessary

Or just pick them off yourself

If you crush them and put them back something will find them a tasty snack I'm sure

I have a good few living in my external filters and have deliberately added malaysian trumpet snails to my tank too, for stirring up the sand.

i put 2 snails in my 5gal which i found in my other tank and ended up with literally about 100+ would squash the ones at the top of the tank and try my best to not over feed and now ive proverly got around 10, dont mind having those in there though. The lettuce thing is good also

Very, but they stay buried pretty much...I will be giving some away when I have too many...You'll notice members here only asking for P&P to sent you MTS...that's a good indication of the breeding rate


There are assassin snails which eat other snails and don't breed so fast, and some species of loach like snails too...

I had the same problem and I have found that if you put a zebra loach into the tank with into days all the snails had gone hope this helps jay
