Second Hand External Filter Got One Tetratec 1200

Hi I'm looking at buying one, will I need new media or can it be cleaned
How would you clean the media and pipes

I got two filters with media second hand. First was from a friend and all I did was use a pipe brush to clean the pipes (trusted him regarding the media). Second from ebay, the pipes were too small so I got new ones but the supplied bio media and ceramics got a soak in boiling water along with the sponges. Rinsed in cool water then some replaced media from the first filter to help cycle the second.

Not sure if it was needed but it put my mind at ease and hasn't seemed to effect the media in any way.

Right I've got a tetratec 1200 filter second hand, I found out after getting it, it has been
Stud full of water for 6 month, now been emptied I'm going to give it a good clean up tomorrow
Do you think the media would be ok or would it need renewing ?

I've got pipe cleaner for the pipes so will see how that goes
