Saw Quite A Stunning Betta Today...

The Stockport place has moved and is pretty impressive, have only had a few fish from there but so far no problems... it is just 5 mins from where i work, sooo tempting!
the Ashton place is OK, not the best LFS but they do try. I would call ahead to see if they have stock cos sometimes they have like 3 bettas left, the runts of the litters! but they do have a whole betta wall so when they first get new stock in there is a lot of choice! I've not been in for a while so no idea what they have right now... a few months back they got sent 150 bettas instead of 50, and most were plakats... nightmare, as not many people want plakats and they didn't have the space to separate them on all the betta wall so they had them dotted round the tank in different tanks... :S

I go to college just 5 minutes away from the abyss =] I'm going to pop in tomorrow and have a look at the bettas!
And i may try the ashton place on saturday sounds like it ould be a gooden

I'm just on the hunt for a lovely betta

The Abyss only has a couple of bettas.
The place in Ashton could potentially have loads, but also could have none :p Definitely worth phoning ahead.

I went today and they have obviously sorted that problem out lol!

tbh I quite liked the place, quite a lot of tanks with interesting fish species but only three bettas left :( . The bloke behind the till said to try calling next week so I will do that I think.

I was intrigued by their quarantine system. All the tanks under quarantine had blue dyed water not sure if this was some sort of chemical to de-stress fish or if it was to stop the viewer seeing general health of the fish. If the latter it definitely worked! At least each tank had a separate filter system otherwise I would have been a little concerned!

Definitely be going their again though :good:

Thats quite interesting, cus our local one is quite competetive.

I suspect it is because for one they are strapped to the side of a posh garden centre in a posh area and also there isn't any competition nearby..

Other prices didn't seem too bad I purchased cards 6 for £12 2 weeks ago so don't think they are taking the mick with normal stock...

I think I will try this place in Ashton Sunday see what they have in stock!

Olly.
Oh! i went there on vacation once. Amazing fish.

Hey, keenonfish! Glad you like the shop, it is not bad and the blokes who work there are nice and friendly... even if they do take the piss out of me for staring at the bettas and talking to them :p If you can get there when they have a new shipment, you will be sooo happy... they have some great ones, as well as the basic blues and reds. And usually a fair few double tails along with the veil tails.
I believe the blue water is some sort of ant fungal treatment that shops use as a preventative measure.... well i read it somewhere once, anyway!
I got my giant danios from that shop about 8 months ago and they are doing great, really big and healthy, if a little hyper :p Just lost a betta I got from them back in June 08, he was amazing. And 2 of my other bettas are from there, and doing well :)
