be aware to realise just how much poo fish produce if you're going from gravel to sand. i have to hoover my tank every other day or else it looks horrific. and considering my lovely sterbais are sifting it through their mouths, it needs to be kept clean. im even considering removing some of my tank decor and plants to ease the poo hoovering excercise. gravel is definitely a lot easier to maintain. but i think sand looks a bazillion times better.

Depends on what fish he has and if they are messy or not. I would prefer to see it and clean it up rather than let it sink into the gravel

I find sand easier to keep clean personally. With Gravel, the waste sinks below and you -ALWAYS- miss some gunk. With sand, the waste stays at the top, its easy to see where it sits and clean it up.

Yeah thats just the small particles, they'll settle after a couple hours, I get it with sand, no matter how much i wash it.

I ended up getting normal kids playsand which I washed for ages before putting it in. Water went cloudy anyway, Will post some pics when I get my tank sorted. Gota fix the lights first.
