recently i treated my fish for ich, and it ppl say i need to sand vaccuum, how do i do this and suck out as little sand as possible so i do not have to dump it back in?

How deep is your substrate? It shouldn't be too hard... Just go down an inch into the substrate and suck out the gunk, then clamp the tube so the sand falls back and move to the next spot

2 inches
good idea! i will try that

When I clean out the sand in my other tank, I first hover the sand vacuum over the top of the sand siphoning water out, then I turn it off (mine is electric but manual would be fine) and kind of push the siphon into the sand a couple of times dislodge the muck into the water and start siphoning again
