Ok... so ill get another blue sponge for bottom, another white one as my one is near enough brown (after cleaning) and leave the black and green for the time being i guess.

You have to replace the black sponge and nitrate green sponge every 6 weeks anyway, a big money spinner for the company, all the nitrate green sponge does is help reduce nitrate reading, but there is no evidence to support it, as tank maintanance with water changes should do that job, all the black sponge does is to remove medicines when you have to use meds now and then when a fish is sick, it just removes the medicine from the water once the course of treatment has finnished.

Thankyou guys for all your help, not up on the technical side like you !

I will go to my LFS and get x3 blue sponges then 1 to replace black sponge, 1) to replace green sponge and 1) for the empty section in the bottom basket

Oh and a white one as mine is terrible.

Don't bother buying the juwel white floss pads, i just buy a bag of filter floss it's cheaper, just put in the place where the juwel floss pad goes.
