Juwel tanks are not designed to be filled right to the top. They have a mark inside for 'maximum water level' usually a few inches from the top. This explains why the dimensions suggest a capacity of more than 400 litres. :good:

When filled to the maximum level, it is not possible to tell it is not filled to the top because of the decorative trim round the tank. It doesn't look half empty.

if I could find out the water level, I could work out the actual amount of litres it holds, or is 400 the amount definately ?

To get the water level.............

Vol = LxWxH
thus H = vol / (LxW)
In your case, the vol is 400000 (cubic cm's) L & W are im cm's

Measure "inside" the glass for more accuracy.
