Formerly: Catfish Are Cool
Got back a couple of days ago (14th) from a 16ish day holiday in Thailand, where we spent 8 nights in Koh Samui, and me and my uncle went diving once (one trip, but two dives) at Sail Rock. Very good diving, have taken some photos from underwater there, but theyre not digital so ill have a go at taking photos of the photos abit later.
Here are a couple of photos of some cool frogs that lived in this large pond, which was also filled with loads of guppys, but they were abit to quick to take pics of:
Baby toad:
We also saw a tomato frog which was really cool, but I didnt get a photo of them, cos we only saw the one...
Then we stayed in Koh Tao for 5 nights, that was really nice...Here is a couple of pics of the bay:
It was really nice there, the bay was just teeming with life...There were hundreds of sargent major fish, red breasted wrasses, coral and rock grouper (only the smaller ones though....), cleaner wrass, pink clowns, and brain corals, anenomes, blue clams and loads of other things...The fish life was just rediculas...Im getting an underwater case for my camera, so if we go again ill get a video of them all.
Here we did 3 dive trips (so 6 dives) and saw loads of very cool stuff. The best bits were: huge groupers at Chomporn, aswell as black tip reef sharks, and adult batfish, all at Chomporn pinnicle...(that was a really deep dive, 30m, so ive now done part of my advanced diving course.) We also saw yellow tail barracudas, blue spot stingrays (on two seperate dives), longfin banner fish (on most dives) and the worst things to meet underwater, Titan Triggerfish...Adult males too!! Scary stuff.
When we were at koh tao, we also got some pretty mad stuff in our room:
This little scorpion jumped on me while I was reading, thought it was a spider, but its has pincers and only 6 legs...
And this 10" bugger was keeping me awake all night, its a tokay gecko:
Hes behind the wardrobe so was hard to photograph...
We then went to bankok for two nights before the flight home. We did this river boat type thing, and saw loads of what I think were pagnisas catfish, all about 2-3 feet long outside this temple, and you could feed them, so they all came to the surrface and ate...I dont have pics of them at the moment, but I took some pictures on someone elses camera so they should get emailed to me soon. Also on the boat we saw two asian water monitors. If anyone knows much about them, they get to about 6 feet or so (and they were both 5-6 feet) and we saw one swimming next to the river bank, and another exiting on some man made stairs from the river...They were really cool.
Anyway, ill try and get some more photos uploaded aswell.
