Sis and I had some puffers about a decade ago; pea, red eye and two schoutedeni.
We both decided that we'd like another pea puffer tank since we had (what I thought was) a spare 10 gallon in the basement. Also had some Red Flint coarse sand (like small pearl rice size) and some fluval stratum, two nano heaters, and a Nicrew light, lava rocks and some driftwood just sitting around...cause we all know that's just a part of the hobby, lol.
So yesterday I went and bought a lid for a 10 gallon, a pot of retrospirallis, large hair grass and lagenandra. I wound up getting 5 retrospirallis, 15 hair grass, and 6 lagenandra from each pot. I also took a cutting from one of my mother anubias that I have has for at least 14 years now.
I also bought a HOB for the 10 gallon, a SICCE I found at Petco.
While cleaning what I thought was a 10 gallon I realized I actually saved one of the 15 gallons I had from the last house...so the lid wasn't going to work.
Fortunately I have many tanks to take seeded media from. As my 33 had 2 HOB they were the easiest to pilfer (fortunately I also have dry media to replace what I took.)
After a few hours of cleaning the tank, substrate and getting the rock wool out of the plant roots the tank is set up.
Just picked up an Aqueon lid at Pet supplies plus as they are really the only store that carries them anymore. Now going to Aquatics Unlimited to get a pea puffer and give one of the store employees a bit of my Süsswassertang moss that is doing well in my 33.
