Congratulations, you must be over the moon. My LFS sells these gourami for £1.50 so i might get some but yeah , congratulations! :hyper: :good:

Thanks :)

I didn't even think they would spawn :hyper:

Here's the video i took, about halfway through you'll see the parent pick up an escapee fry and put it back up with the others :good:

Congratulations, this is one anobantoid I've always wanted to breed but never had any luck.

I had them croaking though which was freaky at the time.

Thanks :)

I've manage to catch some, theres loads in there :hyper: ,i thought once they are free swimming, they might not make it with the other fish.but i did leave quite a few to see how they fair hiding in the silk plants :)

I wonder what the croaking noise was at first, has i never heard it before,i thought it was the heater vibrating against the glass

What do Gouramis do when they're building a bubble nest? Do the bubbles come out their mouths?

My Honeys built one when I first got them (didn't see them doing it obv) but nothing has happened since that. Tho my female is sick now anyway :(

Congrats though, I've been thinking I'd like some Sparklers. I really think you should move nearer me and then start breeding fish professionally lol.

Ps why do Sparklers croak?

i think the bubble nest is made up of air & saliva... has with the croaking i'm not to sure i think maybe courtship or if they're excited, and possibly a dominance thing among males...

I still can't believed they spawned  the ones a saved into the net are still going 5 days after i spotted them :) heres a pic whilst i was cleaning their net

Great footage

Until now I had always thought that gouramis need minimal surface tension to induce spawning. Just out of interest can I ask what filter you have?

J

Thanks :)

I have running on that tank,2 externals tetratec ex700 & ex1200 ,both flowing across from back to front.

Not all are surface bubble nest builders or mouth brooders.
There and many others spawn under leaf's, but the farther dose still guard the eggs and fry like most .

Cheers for the info :good:

For a moment there I was bracing myself for another load of fry.

That's fab, and a brilliant video! They've spawned further down your tank haven't they - to get away from the current. Congrats - I hope they do well! :good: You seem to have loads of luck with your fish making babies! You putting aphrodesiacs in the water or something?! ;)

'fish Viagra'

This thread kinda makes me think I should get rid of my bettas and go down another gourami line (shhhhh i didn't say that)

Are their eggs like bettas, hatch with 48 -72hrs?
