Night Time Bullies

A couple days ago i posted about lost fish (a small Guppy) after adding a Paradise fish and a Rainbow Cichlid.

I am sitting watching them just now, and although all happy together during the day (when the lights are on, and then the moonlights), now that the lights are off, the two newbees have turned into little terrors and are chasing all the other fish!

I know Paradise fish and Rainbow Chichlid can be territorial, but i have given them loads of hiding possibilities, yet they are hanging out near the top chasing the guppys and Danios.

I read up on them before, and read that with one of each they should be fine in my community tank. Dannios and Guppys are the smallest fish i have and they get on fine with(in the way of swimming away faster than) the rainbow shark that can have his stroppy days.

Have i done the wrong thing by adding them? Is this normal? I am now presuming my Guppy loss was due to one of these bullies (although i never thought he was near small enough for their mouths!)

A rainbow cichlid is not at all the same as a rainbow shark. These are rainbow cichlids and I do indeed find them OK in my community tank. It is where they live with mollies, rasboras and other small fish.

I know they are not the same fish, i have one of each - one Rainbow Shark and one Rainbow Chichlid. I was pointing out that the small fish are ok with the shark as it is stated as being semi-aggressive, like the Rainbow Chichlid.

Although the Chichlid is chasing a lot of fish, its the Paradise fish that is causing the main issues i think. Has anybody got experience of these in community tanks?
