New Tank

Hi all


Later today im picking up a 60'x20'x20' its currently stocked with 4 Oscars 2 of which are a breeding pair. I was going to sell them on and set the tank up as another malawi set-up but I've had a little read up on the fish's needs(not great detail just a quick look) etc.. and i don't think their aquarium is big enough for the 4 of them together as i am now thinking about keeping them (never kept Oscars before) Would the tank be ok to house just the breeding pair and sell the other 2?? Also What else can you keep wish Oscars??


Any help would be much appreciated.

1 more thing do they like cover?? i.e rock/wood

I am new to oscars myself, but have done a ton of research and I personally think you should keep the pair and sell on the other two. One large cave that both can get in seems to be the ticket from my research, but it has got to be sturdy and HEAVY so they can not budge it! Also flat on top because they will spawn on it.

Thanks ive kept the 2 and they are really nice fish. Love how they go crazy when you go near the tank.

What you have to remember is... When Oscars lay eggs, they don't just lay one or two hundred.. They lay around a thousand eggs. What are you going to do with a thousand young Oscars? Ok, maybe 500 by the time a few have disappeared etc.

Personally i would have looked into keeping one and maybe a few smaller Cichlids aswell such as a trio of Red Hump Geo's and maybe a nice catfish or 3 like Pim Pictus?
