Im really pleased with it KeithThats the same design on my roma240, very handy not having to mess around with hosing behind the tankCoooooooolNo not added them yet need my algae eater gone first as he is bit of a bully charging through the tank.
Im hoping once my plants grow a bit more u wont c the background.
And yea that guy is spot on![]()
Il stick up a pick of my new tank tomorrow so u can check it out.
Its got a cool design that allows the intake and outlet tubes of the external filter to come up through the bottom of the tank rather than bein hooked over the back of the tank!
Cant wait to get it up n running properly!!![]()

I will only use boiled cold water, not water out of the hot tap. A lot of people do use water out of the hot tap. Normally, a very long and drawn out argument would ensue on here if you asked the question in a new threadWhen doin my water change can i use hot water from my hot water tap to get the temp right?
Just that if i have to use boiled water, its gona take ALOT of kettles to get 260L to the right temp and will take a fair bit of time and money!
Iv read somewhere that you can only keep the filter off whilst doin this big water change for a maximum of 2 hours before the bacteria starts dying and i recon emptying, refilling then adjusting temp with LOTS of kettle water will take longer than this!
+1 for kettle boiled water. I do have a combi boiler which i have been informed would we ok for me to mix cold and hot from the taps but with there being a cyclinder device on the boilers main feed i'm a bit reluctant until i know what its purpose is.I will only use boiled cold water, not water out of the hot tap. The filter can be off for 4 hours easily if the sponges are kept wet (for example in a bucket of tank water). In any case, if filling a whole tank with undechlorinated water, it is always best to make sure the new water won't contact the filter sponges before it is dechlorinated by removing internal filters or shutting off the flow to external filters.
p.s. for a 200 litre aquarium, I think I used about 4-5 kettles of boiling water, alongside cold water out of the garden hose.
