Hi All,

Work is taking me to Barcelona soon and I'll have a few hours to spare in the afternoon before my flight and thought I'd go to a fish shop I'd been to previously. Only problem is I cannot for the life of me remember the name or find it in google, despite numerous searches.

All I remember is that is is in the city centre, on a street which is half pedestrian...(remember this as the cab couldn't take me all the way down) and that the storefront itself is very small...maybe only 8ft wide max. The shop inside is very narrow but long and they have a terrific selection of fish, plants and all the nice extras we all love browsing around.

The shop was ran by a mother and son combo and the son speaks English and is extremely knowledgeable also.

That's about all I can remember I'm afraid....

So is there anyone who might have the vaguest clue what I'm talking about???....or alternately point me in the direction of another decent shop to go browsing around.

have you tried doing the following in google maps?

Any of these? I can remember a fish shop a little walk away from Las Ramblas but it closed down a few years ago.

If your drawing a blank on this.....
I would contact L'AQUARIUM Barcelona
http://www.aquariumbcn.com/AQUARIUM/index.php?wlang=en
and politely ensure them that you will be visiting in (whatever month)
whilst there ask them can they recommend any good Aquarist shops in the vicinity,
Regards

Sent them a mail...not really holding out much hope they'll know the shop I mean, but let's see.

Can't believe I can't find the place....it really was a treasure trove of a shop. Has everything you could want in a fish shop and owners who really care about the fish and take the time to talk to people. Every tank they had was spotless clean and I never seen one dead fish. Dying to get back there.

Why not just go around anyway, ask the locals when your there, problem is fish shops come and go all the time, i visited a great fish shop in colombia, when i was in colombia in 2006...when i went back two yrs later, it had shut down, was gutted as it had some amazing stuff, which you just dont get here, i mean discus for a pound,,,grrr...oscars 20p each and betta splendens were free

Hey Big C.. hows it going? did you ever get your whole in the wall tank done ?

Nothing like a bit of success to put a smile on my face.

After a bit of playing around with keywords and google translate I managed to find the shop I'd been in last time in Barcelona. Great wee place, really helpful staff and a massive array of kit for such a small place. The owner's son speaks English and is very helpful. Their fish (marine and tropical) are very well kept and all tanks are spotless clean...really can't recommend this place highly enough so if anyone's in Barcelona and looking to have a wee wander round one of the local shops, this is the place I'd recommend.

I personally came away with an Eheim Aquaball 130. Been wanting one for a while so bought one while I was there. Cost me 33 quid and yes not the cheapest but cheaper than I'd pay in Israel so I'm happy :good:
