Need An Id Please!

Hi, seen these in my LFS but the owner doesn't know what they are. They were brought in by a customer who just wanted rid of them as he was leaving the country, so they can be had cheap... Seeing as I'm a bit of a fish hoarder...

Nearest I can find is Pseudocrenilabrus sp. "Kimani"

Any help appreciated, thanks

Nearest I can figure out as I'm not into aggressive fish, and you may already know this is that it's a cichlid of some variety.

For sure a type of African cichlid. I'm not good with them sorry but your on the right track.

They look like Geophagus to me. Do they show any signs of a black spot on each side of their bodies? If not then you may be closer with your guess of the Pseudocrenilabrus. Worth knowing as one is an African cichlid and the other is a South American cichlid.

Yeah, definatly not a Geo.. spent most of the day checking books and online and still, I can't find a closer match than my first, but then at the same time, I can't find anything about that particular one, other than a brief picture..

Could it be a type of dwarf cichlid? Or is it too big?

My initial reaction was something African like Snowflake said as they look a little like a krib a bit, but when someone mentioned Geophagus I thought of it looking it bit like a Stieny but not quite like it then I clicked off this topic then remembered Geophagus Pellegrini which I reckon could be these aka yellow hump earth eater so I came back haha Will be interesting to see how these grow

Tylochromis polylepis its been bothering me all day! Dr axelrods mini atlas page 179
Its an African non-lake cichlid.
I really am hoping its a correct ID.

Doesn't seem to be any of the ones suggested so far, sadly

I'll call in tomorrow and try and get some better pictures. Ones which highlight the mouth shape, the colouring on the fins etc. Having a mare trying to find a perfect match here..

I do see where people are coming from with the Geo, as that's exactly what I thought as I first saw them, but they aren't. I really need some better pictures I think.. so expect some tomorrow evening hopefully. There's an empty tank which might house some for a while, just to see what they do turn out to be, of course. Research.. or so the missus will be told
