13 tiger barbs overnight?
Are you sure?

Maximus

Yeah I'm sure 13 Tiger barbs overnight, all of them were small (only about 1/4"), and he's the only one in my tank large enough to consume them, also the only really predator I have. He ate my 3" BGK the night after I got the BGK, I tell ya, my guys mean, if it's small enough to be considered food he'll eat it!

And you may not believe it, but I saw watched him grow, the first month he grew almost 2", the second he grew about another 1.5", I fed her loads, mabye I overfed or mabye it's cause she had the tank space to grow, I don't know. Oh and also your saying that "the average growth rate for anything 0.3 - 1" per month", I beg to differ, what about Silver Arowanas? I had mine for little over 3 months, bought at 3.5-4", grew in the first 2 weeks to 6", at the end of 3 months he was 16".
