whats there growth rate and max size like

Growth rate on my Senegal was about 1-2" a month, feed him blood worms, beef heart(sparingly) and sinking shrimp pellets, these seem to help them "bulk up". I've been told that the max size is usually about 10-12", mines about 9" and half the size of a smartie tube right now.

good to here Feed him/her lots of shrimp pellets, and even the occasional live foods... Unfortunatly mine just ate a shoal of 13 Tiger barbs last night! ugh... My little (well not really) babys a bit fatty ATM, I'm a bit upset at her cuz she killed one of my Angelfish too! I guess all the stress of the tigers being chased and all sent my Angel over the wall (not literally)...


But anyways, shrimp pellets, blood worms, beef heart, you could even try Superworms (the only worm I've found that actually sinks), and of course the ocassional live food.

its not an Ornate, and it could well be retropinnis, as Geo said.
The shape of the head is wrong and the eyes dont look to be in the correct position, a better pic would help, it maybe that its under fed?

I doubt your senegalus ate 13 tiger barbs, after three or four prawns they are full, and by that I mean freshwater ones (Cheap forzen ones from asda )

something bigger could eat 13, like a siamese tigerfish maybe... but not a P. senegalus...

What do you feed it steroids I have had my p.senegal for about 3months and its probably grown about 1.5" and everyday it eats prawns, musscle, Beefheart, white bait, and other meaty foods.

If you have an iceland near you its the best place 400g of prawns for £2 well its good for me as I go through about 3 bags a week lol.

What do you feed it steroids I have had my p.senegal for about 3months and its probably grown about 1.5" and everyday it eats prawns, musscle, Beefheart, white bait, and other meaty foods.

the avarge growth is anything from 0.3 - 1" per month, I dont believe yours is growing at 2" a month, one of my seneglaus (RIP) grew around 1" a month until about 6-7" then stopped.
My other seneglaus grew 1" per month until it reached about 5" and hasnt grown much in the past 6-9 months.

Your seneglaus looks under fed, I onyl feed mine once every other day, but that fish of yours is looking very skinny, I'd start feeding more food

studz thats not marks thats mine i only brought him couple of days ago.......hes eating sooo much bottom feeder pellets and cichlid pellets at mo its untrue.....going to get other foods tomm

oops Sorry about that max, but yeah prawns go down a treat, he might not pay attention to them to start with as it wont know they are food.

How do you get such good pics, as mine always suck, what camera do you use and how do you setup to take the photo?

I get my pics using a tripod it seems to work the best youjust need patience.
